The Sludge Heat Exchanger (HSW) is a “Tube in Shell” sludge/water heat exchanger used to heat and cool biological sludge. The sludge tubes are a circular cross-section surrounded by rectangular cross-section water channels. The flow of the sludge and the water is cross-current for the highest efficiency. With a cutting-edge design, maintenance is straightforward and manageable. The VLV Air/Water Heat Exchanger was originally developed to extend the service life of membranes used in aeration tanks. Among other various applications, the unit also effectively recovers energy from blower-produced hot air streams.
